Safety and Tolerance

After speaking with Specialist Oncologist, Dr. LaValley for two hours and going meticiously through the protocol for taking the health supplements, the theme of putting your safety first and monitoring for tolerance levels really started seeping into me.  I had a thought that keeping such close track of taking all of the health supplements will be really good for me to do because it will force me to write down and track how I feel, what I notice and observe.  He stressed that the first time I start to feel a change that is different from my baseline is when I stop taking the NHP’s and wait until I return to ‘normal’ again.  You don’t wait until it gets really bad or the problem becomes too big. You stop before it does get too big! This to me is a kernal of truth for how to live life!

How often do I go on and push forth when I’m tired or sore or feeling sick? It’s a norm that just becomes engrained so that even when I do notice something is off, I may do a little extra meditation or stretching, but I don’t stop what I’m doing…I keep going.  This is what got me to where I am now. Going along for days, weeks, months not feeling quite right, knowing that something was off with my body, my digestion and elimination, but just chalking it up to working and being tired.

You stop before it does get too big!

How do we distinguish between what kind of tired am I feeling? Is it from work, taking care of kids, or simply getting older?? It’s hard to know exactly and my habit has been keep going on and on dragging myself through the day.  This is not a healthy strategy and I’ve discovered this the hard way.  The very hard way!

You take care of yourself by listening to your body and making a choice with the information you receive.  Not doing anything is a choice, however not always a helpful one and can lead to damaging and bigger problems.

Diving into this protocol regime is another step towards taking care of myself in a new way, more diligently and honestly.  Saying to myself, I will watch out for you and put your safety first and not allow you to tolerate any discomforts.  Carolyn Myss talks a lot about your honour code and how much are you respecting it. Knowing your values and beliefs about what’s deeply important and non-negotiable for your own wellbeing is a vital component of the honour code.  My ‘honour code’ embodies being kind and loving to my SELF in all ways everyday. This is a turning point and a critical step in long term healing and continuous health.
